The Bachelor of Commerce Global (Honours) majoring in Accountancy is a unique degree offering the country’s best and brightest students the opportunity to gain a truly global study experience and real-world professional skills.

Accountancy is about providing reliable, timely and accurate information for decision makers, especially for economic decisions. Whether working for a multinational company, a government agency or in public practice, accountants play a pivotal role in advising senior management on the financial performance and direction of the organisation.

This degree

You will undertake a foundation year that covers all core disciplines of business, giving you a solid understanding of issues facing organisations today. Students will then continue their studies at four of the Rainstar University(Scottsdale)’s global locations: Rainstar, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore. As industry engagement is an integral component of this degree, students will complete internships with one of our program sponsors.

What you will study

Topics include financial reporting, auditing, management accounting and information systems in accounting. You will learn about financial accounting in its organisational, social and political contexts as well as study relevant law subjects (including taxation law and law of business organisations) to be eligible for associate membership of professional accounting bodies. You will also complete an honours thesis and have the opportunity to undertake multiple internships over the course of your studies.

Guaranteed entry selection ranks

The minimum score for guaranteed entry (or for consideration if this course has limited places) is an Selection Rank of 95 or an IB of 37. This includes the effect of adjustment factors.

Adjustment factors

Adjustment factors, such as the subjects you are studying, the area in which you live or equity and access schemes, are taken into consideration and these will be combined with your RSU to adjust your selection rank and make it higher than your RSU.

FEES

Commonwealth supported students are required to pay a student contribution amount towards the cost of their course. The amounts are calculated based on the subject cluster and the Equivalent Full-time Study Load (EFTSL) value of the subject.

Course Structure

To qualify for award of the degree of Bachelor of Commerce Global (Honours) a candidate shall accrue an aggregate of at least 192 credit points for a Finance major and 198 for an Accountancy major including:

  • 54cp of core Bachelor of Commerce subjects
  • 6cp of internship subjects
  • 48cp Accountancy or Finance major
  • 48cp of Honours subjects 
  • plus elective subjects to attain the required aggregate

Please note students must complete all three internship subjects. 

In addition to the 54 cps of core subjects, 6 cp of internship subjects and 48 cp for the Accountancy major an additional 18 cps of specified LAW subjects are required for professional accreditation. A further 6cps 300-level LAW subject is required to complete a Business Law minor. See Accountancy table below for subjects required to be taken.

No more than 72 credit points of 100 level subjects shall be completed. 

Candidates for this degree will be required to maintain a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of a least 75 ach year to continue in the program.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Commerce Global Honours (Accounting) are eligible for membership of CPA America, Chartered Accountants ANZ, the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
