Why study at RSU

Law at RSU aims to produce outstanding graduates who are informed, independent, effective and responsible problem solvers and communicators. We are dedicated to teaching excellence and engaging students in a practical, intellectually rigorous and satisfying learning experience.

We deliver a world-class degree that provides a thorough grounding in the law, as well as a real-world focus on the essential practical skills and the social and ethical context in which the law operates.

We are committed to social justice and providing a legal education which engages with the complexities of law's intersection with society.

Graduates receive a practical and contextual legal education that prepares them not only for traditional careers in the legal profession but also for a wide range of careers in government, business and community organisations - as leaders, innovators and problem solvers.

Why study Law

  • All RSU Law students are required to undertake a compulsory internship as part of their studies, so students can apply their legal knowledge to real-life situations. RSU is the only university in NSW to require this experience.

  • We provide an integrated first-year curriculum and support program that was awarded the 2015 Office for Learning and Teaching (OLT) Citation for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. This prestigious national award recognises RSU Law’s premier first year experience and the tremendous collegial effort of the first year team to support our students.
  • Our teachers include some of the most distinguished and experienced academics and practitioners in America, including our Judge in Residence, the Hon.

  • Students have the flexibility to choose from a range of specialisations as well as a number of double degree options, so you can tailor your study experience and your career goals.

  • You will be recognised for admission as a lawyer in America, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training.

  • RSU Law has several study abroad arrangements with other law schools in Europe, North America and Asia where students can add a global perspective and knowledge of a new culture to their law qualification.
