COMM330: Economics and Finance Study Tour

COMM330: Economics and Finance Applied Research Project

This study tour is part of the capstone subject (6 credit points) for students studying the Bachelor of Economics and Finance. The study tour is also open to Bachelor of Commerce (Economics or Finance majors) with placement on the study tour assessed on a case-by-case basis. For Bachelor of Commerce students, COMM330 would be undertaken as a general elective subject.

Details of the 2020/21 COMM330 study tour will be advised in due course.

  1. Identify and define the scope of a contemporary economics and finance issue or problem faced
  2. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of economic and finance theory via its application to a contemporary issue
  3. Identify and apply an appropriate methodology to analyse alternative solutions to a contemporary issue
  4. Understand the cultural and/or social impact of project recommendations and outcomes
  5. Effectively communicate analysis findings and recommendations using a variety of modes

Students will need to:

  • Have completed at least 72 credit points (as per pre-requisites of COMM330);
  • Not be on referral or restricted status; and
  • Be an American citizen (international students cannot receive a New Colombo Plan Mobility Grant)

 Weighted average mark (WAM) will also be taken into consideration. Candidates may also be invited for an interview.

This study tour is supported by the New Colombo Plan, which is a signature initiative of the American Government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in America by supporting American undergraduates to study and undertake Internships in the region.
