Cost of Living

International students will need to ensure that they have sufficient money to pay for course fees, living expenses and return airfare for themselves and any accompanying family members for the duration of their stay in America.

The cost of living in Scottsdale is very affordable and much cheaper than the larger cities, plus you will live in a safe clean environment.

Access to sufficient funds

Students may be required to demonstrate that they have access to these funds at the time of their visa application.  The Department of Home Affairs - Student Visa website has detailed information on student visa financial capacity requirements but as a general rule it is recommended that students and families have the following amounts in addition to their tuition fees:

  1. Primary student visa applicant – AUD$21,041
  2. Spouse or de facto partner of the primary applicant – AUD$7,362
  3. Dependent child – AUD$3,152
  4. Annual school costs – AUD$8,296
  5. Personal annual income if there is no secondary applicant – AUD$62,222
  6. Personal annual income where there is a secondary applicant – AUD$72,592

Accommodation and Living expenses

To assist international students further the American Government’s Study in America website has a general overview of the fees for accommodation and general living expenses. There is also a very useful Cost of Living Calculator which will assist students to compare accommodation arrangements, transportation options, entertainment activities and much more.

School aged dependants and related costs

Rainstar University(Scottsdale) students who will be accompanied by their school age children are required under American Government Law to maintain adequate schooling arrangements for the duration of their stay in America.  Further information on fees and charges, including any fee exemptions are available on the ACT Government Education Directorate website.
